Connectivity models of interdependency in mixed-type critical infrastructure networks

چکیده
Determining interdependencies and cascading failure modes in critical infrastructures is a complex problem that is exacerbated further by the diverging characteristics of the interconnected infrastructure types. Services in some types of infrastructure such as telecommunications or the electric grid are provided and consumed instantly. Others, notably oil and gas but also other infrastructures built on physical resources, however, exhibit buffering characteristics. In this paper we describe a model for the abstract representation of both types of infrastructure networks and their interdependencies. The model is then validated and demonstrated using characteristic topologies and interconnections. a 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

ENERGY AWARE DISTRIBUTED PARTITIONING DETECTION AND CONNECTIVITY RESTORATION ALGORITHM IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Mobile sensor networks rely heavily on inter-sensor connectivity for collection of data. Nodes in these networks monitor different regions of an area of interest and collectively present a global overview of some monitored activities or phenomena. A failure of a sensor leads to loss of connectivity and may cause partitioning of the network into disjoint segments. A number of approaches have be...
متن کاملA Framework for Modeling Interdependencies in Japan's Critical Infrastructures
This paper discusses Japanese efforts related to critical infrastructure protection, including several case studies to clarify the risk components and countermeasures. An interdependency modeling framework that combines the inoperability input-output model (IIM) for economic interdependencies and Bayesian networks for operational dependencies is presented. Also, the paper provides new multidime...

The modeling of critical infrastructure interdependencies is a challenging task. This paper discusses several interdependency modeling requirements and proposes a Bayesian network approach for modeling interdependencies and inoperability propagation. The approach is applied to a case study involving the Japanese critical infrastructure sectors. Survey data published by the National Institute of...

متن کاملIncidence cuts and connectivity in fuzzy incidence graphs
Fuzzy incidence graphs can be used as models for nondeterministic interconnection networks having extra node-edgerelationships. For example, ramps in a highway system may be modeled as a fuzzy incidence graph so that unexpectedflow between cities and highways can be effectively studied and controlled. Like node and edge connectivity in graphs, node connectivity and arc connectivity in fuzzy inci...
